During the week of Nov. 5-11, Hawaii Island police arrested 13 motorists for DUI.
The numbers of arrests by district were: South Hilo, five; Kona, four; Puna, three; and North Kohala, one.
So far this year, there have been 944 DUI arrests compared to 997 during the same period last year, a decrease of 5.3 percent.
There have been 1,013 major accidents so far this year compared to 1,170 during the same period last year, a decrease of 13.4 percent.
To date, there have been 27 official traffic fatalities, compared to 29 official fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease 6.9 percent for fatalities.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide, police said.
